Welcome
You have come to the personal website of Nan van der Steur,
a basically Good Egg who's trying to get through life as happy
as possible. I launched this site in 2001, after taking a
FrontPage class and falling in love with website administration.
Although it may sound a bit maudlin, I took the name of my
site from a family gravestone. ("Rest is thine/Sweet
remembrance mine".) Loss is a sad burden to bear, of
course, but remembrances can be sweet.

Purpose
When I first launched it, this website didn't have much of
a theme or focus. I have adjusted its purpose so that it now
presents my credentials, as well as some photography and writing.
The pictures used throughout the site are of family members,
because I am who I am in large part because of these people.
Even those whom I never knew influence me, through their successors.
(The echoes of family do last forever). Like bits
of lace and tarnished buttons in a box, the significance of
my loved ones will eventually fade but, so long as I live,
their memory is sweet.
In addition to Sweet Remembrance,
I administrate another website and invite you to visit the
cyber home of musician and college educator
Mike Shellans. In addition to being my best friend, he's
also my husband.
